When hiking in and around the Charlotte area, how bad are the ticks? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

They must not be too bad because I have hiked around Charlotte and NC for most of my 58 years and haven't had a tick in decades.

I think as in most places, if you stick to well marked hiking trails where the path has been cleared away, then you'll be good. If you go off path and have long grasses rubbing on your legs, then you're taking a chance.

Spray your clothes and shoes with Permithrin. Makes ticks a non-issue.

I've only seen a couple ticks in the Charlotte area. Even if you're bit and fail to find it, there's still less than a 1/100 chance it carries lime disease around here. You'd be better off worrying about a car accident going to your hiking spot.
