My favorite place to see fireworks is anywhere on the/a Lake.
Charlotte has a show uptown, but there have been problems in the past...

What sort of problems did they have, NCMom?

I am always reminded of the fireworks display in Old Town Alexandria, VA. They shot the fireworks over the Potomac River. However, the park where they held the festival was just south of Reagan airport. So, they would have to start and stop the fireworks display every time a plane came in and had to land. You never really knew when the show was over with all of the starting and stopping... people would get up to leave in the middle, thinking the show was over, only to discover they had to pause to let a plane land.

LOL I thought this was an old thread dug up but no one had posted lol
We have not even had Memorial Day yet... hehe

During the day the best place to celebrate is in the small towns that surround Charlotte many of them have fun festivities going on.

In Charlotte
There good firework displays Carowinds, Knights Stadium and on Lake Norman it a great way to end a fun day on the lake watching the display over water.
I guess if you dont have a boat you could see if you could pay to reserve one for that day because the rentals will go fast for that weekend.

If you go to Wilmington the fireworks over USS North Carolina is spectacular.

Stowe Gardens in Belmont you can see from some parts of Lake Wylie. But my very favorite place is on my back deck looking at the fireworks over the water. The fireworks are shot off at Camp Thunderbird. Come early and park in the marina parking lot.

The Knights AAA baseball game last year was cool...just don't ride the shuttle buses! They had 3 or 4 buses for about 2-3,000 people! We didn't get home until about 2am. If you drove to the stadium and just waited out the traffic, it only would have been 30 minutes or so!

No, it took me 2.5 hours to get to my house...and I live in Fort Mill! It actually takes less time for me to get home via the Lynx in downtown Charlotte. Usually only 1 hour total depending on when I catch the train. 25 inutes on the train and ten to my house from the 485 station.
