Seems like the most centralized location in the Charlotte metro.

17 min to Danial Stowe Botanical Garden

20 min to IKEA
22 min to UNCC
22 min to Huntersville
23 min to Concord Mills
25 min to Kings Mountain State Park/Drive-in movies
30 min to Matthews
30 min to the Cleveland County Fair/Bridges BBQ
Far but driveable:
43 min to Gardner Webb
44 min to Gaffney Outlets
45 min to Hickory
1 hr 23 min to Lake Lure
1 hr 40 min to Boone (App St/Daniel Boone Inn)

Is there a location in the Charlotte metro that is closer to more stuff?
Technically speaking, I'd say somewhere around SouthPark is the geographic center of the "metro", but obviously it depends on how one defines the "metro". Belmont is a little west and slightly north of the center. But it a s great place to live.
Being central all depends on where you go and what you like to do in your free time. It sounds like you found the perfect spot for you though and Belmont is indeed a great town!
I think you get the best balance of everything living in Belmont. Being "in the middle" is not as important as being able to access different areas of Charlotte AND different areas of the metro quickly. You can get to many of Charlotte's top areas much faster from Belmont that a lot of places in Charlotte itself. Belmont is close to the airport, I-85, and I-485. You have the Catawba River, Lake Wylie, near the Whitewater Center, great little downtown with a park and restaurants/shops, close to Gastonia, beautiful homes in a great range of prices, lower taxes, good schools, much more bang for your buck than most any area in the metro, beautiful, walkable town throughout, it's got the easiest commute into uptown Charlotte, etc. IMO, it offers you, like I said, the best overall balance of most everything better than any city in the Charlotte metro area.

sounds good with all these time charts stc,,,but in the real world the massive overcrowded roads and many many delays with constant congestion these times dont mean squat.sounds like something a real estate salesman would come up with lol
I think it's probably true, but it really only applies to the areas closer to downtown. When you start going south on 273, you add 10+ minutes to all of those times (except to Daniel Stowe)
It's good having two options into Charlotte: Wilkinson Blvd. and I-85 from Belmont. Traffic can be horrible, but not as bad as the Concord area: I-85 and US 29 and NC 49.

It's one of the best locations but I think the areas northeast of Charlotte along 85 like Concord and Kannapolis are pretty up there also. You'll rarely have traffic at a standstill on that part of 85 unless there's an accident. Sometimes the area around Belmont will be backed up at rush hour due to 85 contracting to 6 lanes near there.
We passed on Belmont when we moved here, but there is no best location anyway. It all comes down to personal needs and desires. Belmont is perfect for some, but not at all what others may be looking for (like us). We live in the perfect area for us...
