When I used to be younger, I would find arrowheads sometimes, but mostly in parts of the state away from here. However, now I wanna get back to doing some hunting and finding a more close spot.
I know there was a lot of activity on the Catawba, even found some points there. However, I wonder how many natives lived along the rocky river.
I have no specific answer for you. I know that others have found them in the smaller creeks around the state. Small enough that none can walk along the bed and examine the detritus washed down in the times of higher water. My brother in law found two in the small creek behind his house near Raleigh and as a boy some scout friends found points along our campsite creek. Campbell Creek is on a greenway and has good access and also a ruin of a mill from early 1800's to keep you interested.

Anyone have any finds they've made in the area?
There was a rock shop in Kings Mountain a couple of years ago. Some guy brought in a lot of arrowheads. The guy who ran the shop told me that the guy who was selling them wouldn't say where he found them, but he got the impression that the guy mostly looked around this area and across the border in Cherokee County, SC.
I used to find arrowheads in freshly plowed fields near the Yadkin River. Of course, I was too young then to understand I should have asked permission to roam on other peoples land. Oh yeah, it was around and downstream from the I-85 bridges.
