Well we are back in NY and not too happy to be here!
Our trip was somewhat productive.
First of all, I want to thank those who gave us directions from NY to NC.
What a beautiful and scenic route, I think it was Route 81. The only drawback was the smell of manure for miles and miles but we can't imagine going another way.
Secondly, thank you for the suggestions to see Blowing Rock and Grandfather mountains. We stopped on our way home. The mountain views were breathtaking! We were disappointed that the trails were closed at Grandfather Mt., and the animals at the preserve were not visible. We only saw a sleeping bear and one otter and eagle. The bridge was awesome. All in all we were still happy we went but thought it was pricy ($14 a person) just to drive up a mountain to see the scenery.
FYI, if you plan on going make sure your car has good brakes!
We also put an offer in on a home. Although there are some issues to overcome, we are thrilled to have found a home we love and hope that things work out in our favor.
Just coming back to the NY traffic makes us realize we long to be back in NC and are counting down the days until our move which will be the beginning of July.
Oh, the best thing of all is that the 2 out of our 3 kids really liked Union County (it was their first time there) and in time I know the third kid will come around.

I will be holding my breath until our close at the end of May (I know, I will turn purple) We will be in Huntersville.

Glad you had a good trip and good luck with the house. We will be down there in July but our house won't be ready until Sept . We'll be in Lincolnton.

We were down looking in Union County too from Sat. until Wed. It is a very nice area. We're still unsure if we are moving or not. It's hard leaving family and freinds... Good luck to you and your family!
