But do they believe in justice?

Pretty sure there are hundreds (if not thousands) of kid touchers who've not only been protected from legal consequences but have been moved around once suspicions arise so they can keep on diddling.

If Chevrolet had this issue, you wouldn't buy their cars.

Don't give these schools a single dollar.

That doesn't make any sense to me. What does being "politically neutral" (whatever that means) have to do with admitting non-catholics?

C'mon RJ don't you keep up with all the political parties in the US. Catholics, Protestants, Jews, Baptists, etc.

Oh heavens. You think all the priests are peds? Then take a look at the all the Boy Scout leaders, or the Little League coaches. Or the Penn State Football coaches, for that matter. Ridiculous point.

Catholics are the biggest group of social justice proponents in the world. Dorothy Day, Mother Teresa, Ignatian Volunteer Corp, Catholics Confront Global Poverty, and Catholic Relief Services (to name just a few of hundreds or Catholic justice organizations) take exception to your post.

LOL. "Everybody does it" isn't much of an excuse.

Boy scout leaders are pretty bad too but there isn't a single group in the world with the Catholic church's history of pedophilia and maybe worse, the sheltering and movement of priests to facilitate further kid touching.

And "social justice" is a buzzword for fools who think it's a good thing.

Necessitating one of every color, gender...even those with mental illness on corporate boards isn't "justice" in any sense. Nor is defunding the police.

Well, considering that the Catholic church, as an organization, is ridiculously larger than any of the other organizations, of course their "history" and numbers of pedophiles are proportionately larger. And you are correct that there was a lot of horrific actions by those in charge. Quite frankly, parents should be leary of any man, in any organization, who takes a "special" interest in their child.

Catholic schools are strong in many regards and should not be dismissed out of hand.

I don't think fireman are diddling kids at epidemic rates...and they aren't moving fireman around once suspicions are arised...they don't have dedicated roles for dealing with the MANY MANY kid touchers and the associated accusations and lawsuits.

You should be ashamed for downplaying this.

And Catholic schools sometimes do have good records...but they host the spectre of all the molestation past and some part of your tuition money goes up the chain and funds the parts of the company (yes the catholic church is a business like any other) that hide and facilitate this abuse.

Who said anything about firemen??? BOY SCOUT LEADERS. LITTLE LEAGUE COACHES. Both in your definition of dedicated roles for dealing with many many kids. What happened with some priests being moved around was horrific for many. No one is downplaying it and I am personally disgusted that it was allowed to keep happening. But unless you're taking your kids out of scouts, or sports, then please - you're like a proselytizing vegetarian with leather shoes and bags, in other words, you're sporting a hypocritical position on this.

Catholic Schools are excellent, almost always. They make kids live by values and aren't afraid of offending anyone by this. Their academics are solid if not excellent. If parents don't like something, they don't have to send them there - public schools are standing by happy to take their kids. Throw the baby out with the bathwater much?

Does Boy Scouts of America fastidiously move offenders around to different troops, sometimes even across the country to avoid getting caught? Does Little League pressure offenders to not tell authorities?

The Catholic church did, for decades routinely pressuring accusers and their parents to stay quiet, intimating that they were more pious and respectful for doing so.

This is a false analogy that you're making.

There are kid touchers in all professions, but only one has a demonstrated pervasive problem and a decades long track record of doing whatever it took to cover it up and in doing so, perpetuating the abuse.

THAT'S the difference, and it's a staggering one.

Catholic schools could be demonstrably better than the alternative, but your tuition dollars are paying into this scheme.

Would you spend a little more on your morning coffee if that company had spent year-after-year perpetuating child rape?
