I'm sure this is going to get moved....but am wondering...
If someone is a "Director of Development" what exactly are they doing?
I figured I'd ask all of my freakishly smart friends here at City-Data

Give me a hint as to what industry sector, i.e., healthcare, education/academia, financial services, etc.

Usually "development" means fundraising. So they would be in charge of finding potential donors, maintaining good relationships with them, sometimes event planning, all ultimately to raise money.
