I understand that Mecklenburg County is considering a mask mandate based on "Delta Variant " numbers. Does anyone have a link to data regarding deaths related directly to "Delta Variant" in the County or State?

321 people were in a Mecklenburg County hospital on August 11 for covid treatment and 8 people died from coronavirus between July 29 and Aug 11. Half those 8 deaths were over 60, 37.5% were 40 - 59, 12.5% were 20 - 39 and no deaths were under 20. Of total deaths since the very start of the pandemic, 85% have been over 60.

So you're looking to parse out the number of deaths attributable to the delta variant versus non-delta covid?

I'm not sure they would have that information as I don't believe they are testing all people for what variant. Does it matter what variant at this point. Meck's numbers are high due to not enough people being vaccinated. Period.

In addition to CMS, looks like Cabarrus County Schools, Gaston County Schools, and Kaanapolis City Schools are requiring masks for students in the classroom.

Who would've thought common sense would ultimately prevail?

Mooresville Graded Schools have required it already after only one week in school

So CCS will revisit this at their next meeting in September. This decision was made in part because of school funding and not entirely based on Science. They need all kids in school for the first 20 days to get all of their funding.

Watch a CCS board meeting. It's a freaking circus.

Union County looks like they called a special meeting tonight to deal with a few things, including Covid 19 issues added recently.

CDC announced yesterday 98.8% of COVID cases are of the Delta variant. It's all over the news.
