Hey, big dude! You really need to start a new thread asking that question, as this one is just on things newcomers might not know about Charlotte. If you go to the front page, hit the new thread button and post your questions - and people will be glad to help you. Especially since you promise to be nice.

Northern Virginia, yes, no doubt about it for me

Southern Virginia, the real Virginia, I'd have a hard time ever leaving

Hey, Bigdude - I see you started that thread . . . tell us what you are looking for. Will you have a job lined up b/f you come here? Or maybe - starting your own business? Tell us why you are thinking about CLT and we will try to give you info that hopefully - will help you figure this out.

I grew up in south central Virginia, and if you're looking at just the lifestyle, there's no reason to ever leave there (as was said earlier). If you want to make a pretty solid living, support a family and still potentially have some of that same lifestyle -- particularly in some of the fields like IT or something not so prevalent in that area -- Charlotte is a nice compromise. It's still only a three-hour drive back home for me, and that's close without being too close.

We can likely help a lot more with a bit more information, as was previously mentioned.

Best thing we did. We moved 10 years ago from Fredericksburg, VA (grew up in Dale City) and a 45 mile one-way commute. One warning - ALLERGIES -

So true...our pollen here in the April and May is very bad. The rest of the year I don't have a single problem though
