Do you own a GPS?
There is some great back roads to Myrtle Beach that are quick and a great way to see the country side of North and South Carolina including the small southern towns, the fruit and peanut stands and the cotton growing in the fields.
If interstate is a must 77 south to I 20 west to highway 501 estimate time 4.30
Under AAA Vacations, there is a link to TripTik (after you put in your home zip code on the AAA landing page). It works the same as Google Maps or MapQuest, but also allows you to print your directions in PDF format. I like this feature because it also displays a map for each segment of your trip. Another great benefit is that at the end of the PDF, it will tell you where to expect construction delays (if any are anticipated) as well as where you might want to stop and take scenic photos along the way!
We are using a TripTik for our big trip to Niagara Falls next week, and not being familiar with the area at all, I like the reassurance of knowing where to expect delays. Of course, we have our atlas if we get lost, but I like AAA's TripTik since we don't have a GPS in our car.
I hope you have a safe trip!

From Huntersville we take back roads to get to 85, then 485, hwy 218 (back road) that will dump you out in Polkton on Hwy 74. Hwy 74 to Wadesboro. Hwy 52 South to Bennettsville. Then Hwy 9 through Bennettsville. Hwy 38 South towards Dillon. Will dump you out on 501 to the beach. Depending on where you stay you can use the bypasses to get to different areas of Myrtle off of 501. Most of this is 4 lanes except for 218 and part of Hwy 9.
