I've been clearing out some stuff in my attic, and found a box with my old Barbie doll(s), Skipper, Ricky, doll clothing and lots of Barbie-related items. They date back 50-60 years, and appear to be in pretty good condition. I see on eBay that vintage Barbie dolls and related items can be valued pretty high, and I'm curious whether I should try to sell them (and for how much), or if I should just donate them to a worthy cause. It helps, though, when donating, to know what their value is for tax purposes. Anyone have any suggestions for how I should proceed?

Thanks in advance.

They are only valuable if they haven’t been played with and especially if you have the box they came in.

Thanks, Teacher Terry. No boxes — and they were definitely played with!

It doesn’t hurt to look online just to check before you donate. If you look on eBay don’t look at what people are trying to sell them for but look at the sold ones that are similar to yours.

We had bought holiday Barbie's each year starting in the 90's and into the 2000's. The Barbies stayed in the boxes and were stored for safe-keeping. A couple of years back, daughter decided she had no use for them and told us to "let them go".

After checking, we found they basically had little value and were not even worth the hassle of selling/shipping. We donated them to the local thrift store. Maybe someone else will see the potential windfall and invest a nice price to buy them.

I'd definitely go the eBay route. Millions of people looking daily on there for the most of random of things. I sell sports cards on there and some that I listed and thought no way anyone will ever want this guy and those usually end up selling before the more "no brainer" cards. lol Free to list and eBay only gets paid if it sells so no risk.
