We will be moving from Florida to Charlotte this summer and need an excellent preschool for my toddler. I have looked into Chesterbrook academy located at 13210 S Point Blvd Charlotte, NC 28273. I am considering placing my son there for the summer (while waiting to get into Montessori) and since no other preschools seem to have any space available at for the beginning of July. I also looked into Kid R Kid in Ballantyne but there is no space available until Jan 09. We also are looking for a great area to live where is not too crowded and have heard that Marvin Weddington and FortMill are nice areas to be in, close to the city but away from the everyday hustle and bustle. Any information wil be very appreciated.

Unfortunately in south charlotte there is a long wait for preschools. You might have some luck with some mother mornings out programs at the various churches. It took us over a year to get into the preschool of our choice in south charlotte. You just have to get on all the lists and hope something comes available. The chesterbrook you mentioned is not near Marvin/Weddington. There is one much closer on Hwy 51.
Yes, marvin/weddington is a wonderful area and so close to everything in Ballantyne/Blakeney.
What price range are you looking in in order to tell you the neighborhoods in that range.

Yes, churches have long waitlists too. We are in a church preschool and we waited over a year to get in. I was told we were lucky that most wait 2 years.

At our church, parents camp out overnight in February (COLD!) to put their names on the list.

I do not think Waxhaw Child Development center is full yet. It is new. Our 3 year old went there.

It will be very hard to find a spot for next school year for Pre-K. If you are looking for something over the summer, you need to use the term "day care" because "Pre K" runs on a school-year calendar.

I saw a sign that Providence Presbyterian has Pre K openings for next year. This is really rare, so if you are interested you should jump on it.

We found out we were moving here in February and I had a very hard time finding a spot for my child for the following September.

Good luck!
