I read one post on Niblock Homes vs. JW Homes, great information, thank you.
I'm looking for overall information on Niblock Homes and what you know. What type of experiences you may have had with them, etc.
We are looking to purchase a Niblock Home in Cabarrus or Mooresville and want to make sure we are selecting a good builder.
I have searched the internet for hours looking for good / bad information about them, finding very little. I looked at local Buidler Associations, but not finding much valuable. Any suggestions?

I live in a Niblock home. Which Niblock subdivision are you looking to build in?
We live in a Niblock resale. I think its a well built home. Our home inspector praised the construction and the dryness of the crawl space. I don't here anyone else complain about them. I have 2 steps that creek, my only pet peeve.
BxRosie - Currently looking at two communities, one in Morresville and one in Cabarrus County. I've noticed that since they are a semi-custom builder, they offer different incentives at their communities. That being said, just trying to find out what kind of experiences cutomers have had with them (I guess you would call it references). When buliding, were all requirements met, employees user friendly, how they handle their 1/yr walkthrough & 10 yr warranty on their homes.
yrgm - Thanks for the input, I greatly appreciate it.

Building with Niblock was a pleasure, especially since we were in NY while our house was being built here. They were very accomodating with regards to appts. & working around our schedule. We had Renee Coulthardt (sp) for a sales agent. What a sweetheart!! I can't say enough nice things about her or her asst., Lorraine. Any problems were handled completely & in a timely manner. We are VERY pleased with our home!
The only thing I would have changed (had I known then) was the size of my kitchen. I would have considered bumping out the house in the back a bit to be able to add 2'-3' of space behine my breakfast bar. That's really all that I would have changed. Maybe make my patio a bit bigger too. Otherwise the house is just right for us.
Niblock built a fine home at one time. Their quality control is lax, their follow-up is non-existent, and you really have to know what you want in a home if you use them as they do not incorporate many things a homeowner comes to expect in a home. If you don't catch it before you close, you end up paying a contractor to come back and do things that you took for granted in a house.
They are very flexible as to their designs and will work with you if you are willing to pay for it. I know, we built a Niblock home.

Sorry to hear you had such a negative experience with Niblock. How long have you lived in your home? Was it still under warranty when you discovered your structural/cosmetic problem?

What community did you buy a Niblock? We live in Champion Forest.

Yes, we are still going round and round with them. Due to many personnel changes within the organization, it does not seem the left hand knows what the right hand is doing. When I send them an e-mail or try to call them, I never get a response. Who knows what the warranty period is when you have to submit a 60-day punch list? That is too soon to tell what is or will be wrong in the first year. I don't even know how long the warranty period is. I think other builders offer longer warranty periods than Niblock does.

Yes, I am in CF too! Love the neighborhood and love the way all the builders made sure the homes did not look alike. Just wish the QC was as good as it appeared to be in the model home we looked at and based our decision on that quality. It is not here - although I have seen some in the neighborhood that are worse than what ours was.
