Hello. Anyone have any input on Mooresville, NC. Currently, I live in a town in NJ that has virtually no crime (except for the occasional mailbox getting knocked down) and is mostly middle to upper middle class. I'm thinking about moving to NC and trying to get an idea if Mooresville is comparable. If not, anyone have any suggestions for towns in that area that are?

Do a search on Lake Norman and you will find all the information you are looking for. LKN is great and has everything you'll need and more!

Mooresville is a very family friendly area. It is booming there. Just depends on what you are looking for. My family lives there . . . and I think the area is really neat. Yes, lots of countryside getting filled w/ residential housing and shopping areas . . . medical plazas, etc. so traffic has increased, but I love the countryside and there are many conveniences to keep me satisfied, so I don't mind some traffic. Lots of nice housing subdivisions and great schools. Check it out! There are many places in that area that you may fall in love with!

I live in Mooresville 28115 & LOVE it! Moved here from NY. What part of Jersey are you from? What are you looking for?

I just moved to Mooresville a few months ago. I live in The Point subdivision and I think about half the people that I encounter are former NY/NJ people. I used to live in the Princeton area (Davidson reminds me of that) and it is similar--close to about everything you can imagine. Little crime in our area, in fact I can't think of any. Nice area, in fact I can't think of a nicer place to live. The best part is that the NJ $ goes a lot farther here.

I'm from northern NJ. Living in the northern part of Passaic County. My main concern is the crime level. I don't want to be afraid to go out or to be alone at night.

Mooresville is located in the Lake Norman area, which has become very affluent (by NC standards) in the past 5-10 years. The city has been around for a century or so, but the city is brand new at the same time. Tremendous population growth due to the lake, NASCAR, and close proximity to Charlotte continue to fuel the citys growth. Mooresville has a "new" feeling...everything, especially the retail areas were built within the last year or two. The slow national economy hasnt slowed growth there at all it seems.

My opinion of Mooresville is that it is a nice city, and is very safe. And like its close neighbors of Huntersville, Davidson, and Cornelius, Mooresville seems very family oriented.

Mooresville has its own 'bad' areas, but these have been successfully tucked away and then built around that it has almost been absorbed by the growing community.

Traffic is a huge concern. This is no joke. Just get ready for it. The roads in Mooresville are basically unchanged for the past 30 years and add 20,000 or so newcomers in 5 years time and this is what you get.

Mooresville (imo) will continue to grow for years to come. It is in a prime location, literally on the Lake Norman shore, home to the most race teams in the country, and close to a growing Charlotte. These things will not change.

Thanks for your input. I did hear that there were a lot of transplants in the area. I guess everyone is impressed by how much you can get for your money

Thanks. Your post is helpful. I do know about the traffic. I witnessed it while visiting. I can't really say that Northern NJ doesn't have it's own traffic problems though.

As for the 'bad' areas, I guess a good real estate agent could steer me in the right direction.

In Mooresville, the area west of I-77 is closest to the Lake & has the most growth & traffic congestion. There's tons of shopping in that area, with more being built. The area east of I-77 is closest to downtown Mooresville & has more of a rural feel...for now. I live in a subdivision on Hwy 3 & there's still alot of farmland left around me. It's very tranquil over here. There's very little, if any crime. Usually it's just car or garage break ins, maybe a domestic issue every once in awhile. It's a very safe area, no need to fear being out at night for a walk. There's lots of northern transplants, so you'll feel right at home. The schools are very good here as well. Feel free to pm me if you have any questions.

Good Luck!
