I have two boys, 9 and 7, who are interested in summer camps. I am in the Indian Trail/Matthews area. Can anybody recommend any good camps for active young boys.

If you mean day camps you can't beat the YMCA!

If they like playing basketball, there's an awesome league/camp in the Providence Rd. area. We love it so much, we do the fall league (our boys are 14/11) and drive from Concord. Go to yesicanbasketball.com.

I, too have been looking for summer camps for my daughter, I found 2 options for her so far. (I'm not sure when exactly we'll be in Charlotte so I can't book anything yet, probably all be full by the time we get to it!)
My concern is that we're from CT and not used to the oppressive heat (we moved to Fayetteville last summer, will move to Charlotte this summer---hopefully be done moving then!) here in NC. So I found Camp Invention (she's into creating things.....) they have a website, just google the name....they seem to be in many of the schools all around, and I do believe they are in union cty.
Also the indoor water park has summer camps too look here:
http://www.charmeck.org/Departments/Park+and+Rec/Aquatics/Rays+Splash+Planet/Summer+Camps+at+Ray%27s.htm (broken link)

Unlike in Connecticut, where it got hot but was almost alway cool overnight, here in Fayetteville I remember opening the door to let the dog out in the mornings and the wave of heat just hit me like opening an oven door.....

Happy Hunting
Joan
