Good to see "Hidden Valley" and the N. Tryon/Sugar Rd area has also taken a turn for the better; just like University City....

Maybe so...but still has along way to go. Any improvement is a step in the right direction...but the low lifes and thugs and gangs have really brought a once fairly decent neighborhood...way down.
Newsflash Mike---Beaties Ford Road is NOT considered part of University City. Its more closely tied to West Charlotte than it is the University area. That's like saying Grier Heights is part of Ballantyne.
He's getting off on giving misinformation all over the place - but anyone reading who is looking for accurate info will see thru it all

Yes, Hidden Valley has come a long way in the last year. There was a poster on here not too long ago - wish I could remember her name - who talked about how much she likes living in Hidden Valley - how calm and peaceful it's become since the gang members were arrested. Now, not saying I'm ready to move to Hidden Valley, but I was impressed she was so happy there.
But back to discussing the University area...(which Hidden Valley is NOT a part of).
A very simple way to find out if University City is a desirable place is to ask any cop working the area. If he has been working the area for a time ask him is he has seen any changes good or bad, are there certain areas to avoid and probably most important is to ask if he does or would reside with his family in the community. And why. Bypass outsiders opinion of the area and those with an agenda both pro and con. Forget the PC stats that are released showing what a great job the police are doing, its mainly smoke and mirrors PR stuff anyway to appease the public and get the word from someone WORKING the area 5 days a week.
Umm, no. How about someone living there 7 days a week.
Cops spend much of their time dealing with the lowest members of society. You don't think that plays a part in how the view and interact with the rest of us??
