I was losing sleep over worrying about other's opinion's of Charlotte's status

Seriously, Charlotte does have a lot of appealing qualities but also grew too fast and infrastructure hasn't kept up.

<YAWN> Not hardly news. We are not NYC, CHI, LA, ATL . . . whatever. I agree w/ Muffinman. Not losing sleep over it.

If I want to be in a big city, I will buy a plane ticket. Or fill up the gas tank and head up 95.

Weedy, guess that you've never been to London, the home of the one making that comment...

Having lived the same distance from the center of London as I currently do from Uptown Charlotte.
I would hate Charlotte to become a world class city, London is great to visit but sucks to live there.

Perhaps my sarcasm didn't shine through in my post. I've been to London. I've always thought the whole "world class city" stuff was hilarious. That was the argument used to fleece the citizens for a new arena and I usually replied, "Yeah, because Paris and London are known for their basketball arenas."

And Charlotte's dinky little train is to the Tube what a wading pool is to Lake Michigan.

but here's the thing- Charlotte should aspire to be a world class city given that it's already a business destination and it has very desirable climate, etc

saying, I'll buy a plane ticket or drive up 95 sets the city back like 30 years

"Lord Mayor!"

Was he wearing his red cape and big heavy 30 lb. gold crown whilst giving this historical address?

Silly Limeys.

LOL I had to chuckle too when I saw that "headline" plastered on the news portion of Yahoo and Google. With what is going on, this really takes top billing?

And waahhh, our fair little city ain't snuff enuff for London!
