We live in Mooresville off Perth Rd. (west side of I-77) and my husband works in Davidson. He takes back roads and is at work in 25 minutes (15 miles). Traffic is rarely an issue on the back roads, even at 5 pm on a Friday. The worst thing is you'll get behind someone poking along at 35 mph in a 45 mph zone. Argh! LOL

Our previous house was in Huntersville, in the Northstone neighborhood. It took him 20 minutes to get to work from there.

If you're coming up Brawley from the Point, the Farms, or basically anywhere past Morrison Plantation Pkwy, you'll be part of the the traffic issue. Once you reach Williamson Road, it's pretty much clear and moving in all directions.

Now, if you get on I-77 south off Williamson, traffic can be bottled up going over the lake (betw. 33 & 30) and then again through Cornelius and Huntersville. When I take the interstate, I get off at 30, so I can't tell you what happens on a regular basis below there.

Default Mooresville Schools

I have a family member who works at Mooresville senior high and Mooresville schools are a lot better than CMS. For example, starting this year, every student grade 4th through graduation will be provided a brand new Mac laptop to take home with them. Most if not all school work will be done and submitted through the laptops, and there's even talk that they are providing free internet to families who can't afford it. I really don't see CMS doing anything like this anytime soon. If you want good advise choose Mooresville. The economies good, the schools are better, housing is cheaper, and the taxes and gas prices are a lot lower than Mecklenburg County.

I lived in Morrison Plantation and my b-in-law lives down Brawley right before you hit the Farms... this is a very accurate representation of the traffic. They're widening Brawley so take that for what you will - the new Bloom should definitely help as the folks who live out on the Brawley peninsula won't have to come out to Morrison Pkwy for everything. The 77 traffic is mostly died off by the time you hit exit 36. Yes, it's messy crossing 77 there. But honestly, you will see that all down 77 at each crossing including Davidson/Huntersville/Cornelius. You can try to avoid it by sneaking across 77 on Brawley itself - it somewhat better because there's no exit for 77 there.

The difference between the Iredell schools and CMS are significant... If schools are a top priority (and I believe they should be #1), I would highly recommend you stick to Mooresville. Based on my experience, you can basically chunk Mooresville up into 3 main sections:

#1 - Brawley peninsula
#2 - Perth Rd (North of Brawley and West of 77)
#3 - East of 77

I'd put the best value right now at #2. Brawley peninsula will always be a premium and East of 77 doesn't quite have the schools that West of 77 does. Best bargains right now will most likely be found at #3.

I live in Cornelius now but i worked in Mooresville for 5 years. The traffic around Mooresville is a complete nightmare. I agree with the other poster about Davidson, it is very dead there.
