I've read all of threads on both forums, but most seem to focus on crime and school systems. Having visited neither place before, I'd like to hear some pros and cons on both cities in NC from a singleton viewpoint. I currently reside in the DC area, but am looking for a change. I picked North Carolina b/c I've heard such great things about the state and cities. I am looking for a lively nightlife, good restaurants and of course, well-educated 30 something single men! Also, I can transfer with my company, so a job is not part of the equation.

Important to me: Lively nightlife with 30 somethings (not 20's), professionals, restaurants, friendly atmosphere
Not interested in school systems or crime

Thanks!

Should give it a try. Don't know why you wouldn't like it.

Smashle,

I am a 30 year old single female and was in your position last year. I thought I wanted to move to either Raleigh or Charlotte, so I visited both cities and loved the feel of Charlotte. This is just my perspective, but there seemed to be more of an urban feel to Charlotte, with single 30-somethings out everywhere. I am moving to Charlotte tomorrow, so I guess I'll find out for sure, but I urge you to visit both cities and draw your own conclusions.

Charlotte is much more active than Raleigh. The 30-40 scene is still a bit tepid, but seems to be picking up with more casual night spots, including the Epicenter downtown. I have several friends from DC down here and like it. It is no DC mind you but closer to big city life without gettign too many Big City headaches.

Sounds like you should live near south park or ballantyne.

Though one question where about is your company located?
