Hey everybody... Its been a while....Anywhooo I'm back and all moved in in Waxhaw! Wa-hoo!

On Providence Road near Gray Bynum have you seen those black cows with the white ring around bellies? OK, OK I'm from the north and have never seen anything quite like it. Some family and friends were wondering (me too) whether there was some hanky panky going on with the cows? Are they cross bred? Beamed down from Scottie? Are they 'natural'? What say you?? Soooo curious! Thanks!

They're called Belted Galloways. They are not beamed down from Scottie, but are a rare breed of Scottish beef cattle. You can see them also at Fearrington Village between Pittsboro and Chapel Hill.

Yep, you will see them frequently in Scotland and even the Lake District of England. Nice to see that our farm animals are so international.
