Try Habitat for Humanity or Goodwill.

Good advice, also consider Salvation Army, they will pick it up at your house.

This is not a charity but it is another option if you are looking to get rid of your stuff. Check it out http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Freecycle-Charlotte

Sometimes the churchs will come and get things. One of the catholic churhes we donated to had a store and came to pick up the furniture.

If all else fails, put it at the cub and someone will 'pick it up' by the morning.
I agree with freecycle too.

Any time I have a large household item (furniture, appliance) to donate, I give to Rebound. This organization helps people that have gone through the mission rehab programs get back on their feet by making furniture and appliances available toi start their new lives. It is a wonderful program.

Rebound will send someone to your home to pick up if needed.

We donated to Salvation Army and they picked it up. They also provide a receipt so you can write it off.

Faith Farms, brings back memories. Are you from the Okeechobee area?
