It's funny how you guys are freaking out especially barkingowl. Gas is currently $13 a gallon in the UK. $5 a gallon is nothing. If you don't like the price of gas then ride mass transit.

Just because gas is at $13 a gallon in the UK, does not make it acceptable to be that here. What your point is? Is it that we should accept high prices because someone else has them? Sorry, at least buy me dinner first.

Why is it not acceptable? You have mass transit in Charlotte and small/fuel efficient cars you can buy. Do you not?

very limited mass transit. Especially if you live on the North End of the county.

Why do folks continue to compare the US and the UK or Europe? Very different circumstances. Taxes, Public Transist, Size all completely different. if you do want a comparison, If the UK was paying $10 a gallon for gas 5 years ago, the US closer to $1.50, so now imagine the UK paying $35 a gallon and then we can talk.

Funny how they aren't freaking out in the UK...."What?!?! We pay $13 a gallon and in the US it's only $5!!!"

Not everyone here has access to public transportation. Some surrounding areas don't have any at all.

Also, it doesn't help my pocket book to trade in a paid for vehicle for a more fuel efficient car that will take 6-7 years to break even. That's nuts (and a little bit of math).

Lastly, grumbling about gas prices is a time honored past time here in the US. We don't want to pay as much as they do in the UK, we want it for less here!!

So informing people of which stations have fuel is "freaking out?"

When I stop seeing the words "record oil profits" every quarter, I'll stop grumbling
