You know how the crime area of High Point is bad near Business 85 between Kivett Dr & East Lexington Ave ok now multiply the size of High Point city limits by 5 and you basically have that crime area that equivalent to High Point but in each side of the town. Remember you multipliy the city size by 5.
I find High Point very safe as long as you stay vigilant in the high risk areas and the same is true for Charlotte.

I don't really know if being a sign of the times has anything to do with it. It has been that way since I was a kid and that was quite a while back. It all has to do with the neighborhood which makes it safe for the reasonable, prudent individual under normal circumstances that knows to stay away from the bad places.

I know crime is a huge topic among Charlotteans - as it should be. I know UNC Charlotte just released their Annual Security Report showing robberies on campus doubling from 2006 to 2007 and larcenies on campus jumped from 212 in 2006 to 252 in 2007 (both up from 192 in 2005). Charlotte is growing fast and we need to make sure that we have adequate public facilities and services. Maybe APFO (Adequate Public Facilities Ordinance) and LOS (Level of Service) should be hotter topics in board meetings?

Charlotte is a very different city too. Uptown is one of the (if not the) safest areas of town. There is more crime in the suburbs than in the Uptown area. I think that most crime happens in areas of town prone to crime...but crime can happen at anytime....anyplace. Never let your guard down anywhere.

Hi All,

My name is Victor. I live in Staten Island, NY. I've heard of the concerns about Charlotte, but to me if you've lived in this God forsaken hell hole they call NY, the crime in Charlotte is a joke. I turn the news on and my head spins. The most horrific crimes you cannot even imagine occur in NY. I can say that the police in NY are excellent and there is only so much they can do. They respond ASAP to all crimes, but it's a loosing battle. From what I here Charlotte needs to increase there police department and start caring more. But if they are not getting paid for the job they will not risk there lives, so maybe that is an issue. I hope since the area is increasing that they will step up to the plate and become a better police department as I am trying my best to leave the toilet bowl of the United States. From the photos I see the city of Charlotte looks very beautiful.
