My wife has been raving about a bakery in NoDa, Amelie's. Home Page I've had some little pastries from there and they are superb. List of cakes on web site looks amazing.

Though I haven't tried it yet, some coworkers of mine have been raving about Suarez's Bakery. They are located in the Park Road Shopping Center.

Ummm... all this cake discussion is making me hungry.

Oooooh! They brought two big boxes of assorted cupcakes to our office for us to try. I couldn't make up my mind which of their awesome flavors to try! And when I finally made a decision, it was GOOD!!!

Then, in Huntersville, there's The Bakery Shoppe. Expensive, but gorgeous!

If you're looking for just "something" (like a sheet cake) there's always Bi-Lo (I love their bakery cakes) and Costco.

I personally LOVE....Suarez Bakery in Park Rd Shopping Center. Use to be the old Federal Bake Shoppe. Very good...but not real cheap!

Good Luck!
