Hi All,
I have a few questions about the Charlotte area. I had my mind set on Nashville, TN but I am now contemplating moving to Charlotte, NC. Please let me know if Charlotte can offer these things. First, I am a young professional, married and have one child. I will be graduating with a Masters in Management. I will also be purchasing my first house.
1. How is the cost of living? Are the property taxes high? I assume it is similar to Tennessee.
2. Schools: Are they zoned or are we able to choose any public school?
3. Are snakes and roaches in the city area? I am a little fearful especially of roaches.
4. Is this an area for young professionals or a good area to raise a family?
5. What are the most demanding job fields besides banking?
6. Last, what areas would you recommend for a good school district, city/ suburb feel, friendly and home price range from $150k - $200k. I am looking for a single family home.
I appreciate any advice. Thank you. By the way, I will be relocating from Wisconsin, so I am looking forward to a warmer climate!!

Please do a search and read the many, many threads on this subject. Jobs here are fairly non-existant and our economy is in shreds at the moment. DO NOT consider moving here without HAVING A JOB FIRST!!!!!!!
...and, yes, there ARE snakes (copperheads are the most common) and roaches...all of which are found in warm-weather climates.

Just do a search on this forum for "snake" and you will see the many pictures posted of ones found in backyards that people are trying to identify.
