Hello all,
I have read and heard news about a problem with overcrowding in several school districts in NC specificaly in the Charlotte area. I have even read about students having to be shipped to other schools. This is a scary proposition to me and my family( if this is true). I am moving my family down to NC this summer and would love to avoid any such problem areas. Could anybody with any information please let me know where exactly this is occuring and maybe a little insight about how this has affected you or someone you know.

You'll have to be more specific...as in what area and what do you mean by 'shipping kids to other schools'.

Yes, several districts have crowding and students are reassigned to keep things in balance and to fill new schools as they are opened....but without knowning exactly where you will be moving to, it's hard to give you feed back on the issue.

What I mean by " shipped to other schools" is actually buying a house in an area after researching the local schools, then finding out that due to over crowding that the kids actually do not get to attend the school you anticipated. I have only heard rumors of this occuring and I just wanted to know if anybody had experience with this.

Well....yeah....they open new schools and they have to fill the schools or a specific school has too many students in their node and they have to re-arange.

In a good district it shouldn't make a difference in education.
