Are there any health food stores/natural food markets in the Charlotte area? They are pretty common here in Vt, but my mother in Florida hasn't seen any. It seems to vary from place to place.
There is a Tally's Green Grocery in Dilworth (just south of uptown), an Earthfare in the Ballantyne area, and a Home Economist in Davidson. There used to be a small place called Berrybrook Farms in Dilworth too but I do not know if it's still there.
Harris Teeter actually has a decent line of natural and organic products and carries organic produce.
I too would love to know if there are more - especially in the Lake Norman area. I love Earthfare but Ballantyne is far away from Huntersville!!
Oh and I forgot to mention... I am also a Vermonter. I've been down here for about 10 years. And while I love Vermont and miss it, I also really like it down here.
Whole Foods is opening up 2 stores, one in South Charlote and one in North Charlotte. But, unfortunately thay aren't opening until 2008 and 2009. Once they do open though, they will be great. They have a great selection of organic produce, meats, grains, cereal, dairy products, etc. I'll just have to settle for Harris Teeter until then....
I need to ask you a few questions if you don't mind. 1.How long is the ski season? I LOVE snowboarding and refuse to give it up! 2.Have you noticed any bias against northerners? I've heard stories and would rather not believe them. It would be pretty pointless to be discriminated against for something that happened 130 years ago when my family has only been in America for 58 years. 3.Also do I need to bring my own maple syrup (haha)? 4.Where in Vt.?

There's a place in the NoDa neighborhood near uptown called "Nude Food" - you could check them out

Ok... in order here:
1. Ski season is short! But there are some cute little ski places within a reaosnable drive of Charlotte, and snowboarding is popular so they might have some halfpipes and stuff set up.
2. The bias is not that noticeable around Charlotte. Some joking around. But my SC inlaws who are very proud of their southern heritage have accepted me.
3. YES. I still get mine from my parents.
4. The Northeast Kingdom... way up near Canada. (The Newport area). What about you?
Opposite corner of the state, Manchester(and surrounding area),Bennington County. We have 2 feet of snow in our yard, but the daytime temps are rising above freezing now so it looks like spring (mud season) is on the way. I'm hoping to skip that though, I'll be down there next week looking for a job and hope to be living there soon.
