For the South it could be broken down to Southend, South Park, and Ballantyne. North Charlotte could be North Charlotte and University Area. This would make the poll more interesting.

I always thought that Pineville was cool. That Red Lobster is always packed on the weekends!

I am going to apply my critical thinking skills and guess that the OP is referring to ethnic restaurants. The best area I have found is over in East Charlotte with all the Pho and Asian places.

+1.

Lots of nice places around SouthPark, but nearly all are chains (Ruths' Chris, The Palm, Del Frisco's, McCormick & Schmick's, PF Chang, etc).

Does anyone know of a good Damascan restaurant?
I ate at one in Lafayette LA a few months ago (run by immigrants from Damascus) and it was delicious.
So good that I ate there 2x in a week - I'm hooked.

What type of food is Damascan, something spiced a little different than Middle-East type of cuisine you've eaten in Charlotte? Just curious since my grandmother is syrian and I always felt her cooking was quite a bit different than lebanese restaurants I've been to.

I put down east charlotte also. There's an awesome middle eastern restaurant there, (cedar's) and a Pakistani restaurant.
