I mailed in my Meck County property taxes right after Christmas. My check still has not cleared. Allowing a little extra time for the holidays... ok, what is keeping them? I really don't want to spend hours on the phone calling them to find out if they got the check... only to have someone yawn and tell me to wait a few more weeks and call them back if it hasn't cleared. How long should it take?
(They warned me it would be like this down here in the south! j/k )
I sent mine in (for a car) right after Christmas, too, and just checked on it, and noticed mine has not been cashed either. I guess that means there is nothing to worry about since both of us have the same situation but I think if I don't see something show up tomorrow . . . maybe I should follow up. That will be over 2 weeks, even accounting for holidays, by tomorrow.
Gee, maybe Mecklenberg and Charlotte are flush with cash! I sent my Monroe and Union County checks in, and I swear they must have had NASCAR drivers on retainer, racing to drive them to the banks to cash them. Sent out on a Monday afternoon, cashed by Wednesday. Either that, or my mailman owns a meth lab and "indulges" on occasion!

Why are you complaining about it? As long as that money remains in your account you receive interest on it instead of the government. You should be glad you are getting it instead of them.
As long as you properly balance your checkbook you shouldn't have to worry about spending the money before the check is cashed. A check is good for something like a year, isn't it?
Well, when it comes to taxes, we are concerned that somehow the check has not gotten into the system, wh/ means we will be charged a penalty. At least, that is why I have been concerned about why it has not cleared my checking account.
I had a delay too. I sent my house tax payment from my BOA online banking on 12/22. The county cashed it on 12/26. It did not post to my account until 1/7. I called on 1/2 because I was worried about late payment and interest. They told me that they were way behind from the holidays and to call back on 1/9 if my account did not reflect the payment. Like I said, it finally showed on 1/7. Give 311 a call. Surprisingly, they were pretty helpful.
