I am just curious . . . cause in my neighborhood, everyone is a newcomer. There are no locals in my 'hood. At least, I have not found them if they are here!! Now, several couples have been here over 10 years, but they were raised in other states.
And the friends I have made since moving back here . . . all of them are from elsewhere and moved here. Some were raised in other Southern states, but most moved here from the NE.
Someone from DAR was talking w/ me yesterday and said their research shows that in the Charlotte area, the stats are now that only one person out of 60 in Charlotte was actually born here. Amazing!!!
So I wondered what your experiences have been. Anyone actually know someone who was born and raised here?

About half our friends here are from North Carolina (three of them were born and raised in Charlotte), and the rest are from up north. As for our street, everyone is from up north.

The locals must be buying up your way!
I just remembered - we have had one person who was born here move into the subdivision that is in front of ours. I had forgotten about that. I know nearly everybody in both subdivisions and to my knowledge - that family is the only local family living in these two subdivisions.

Yes...I am in Providence Downs and I do know quite a few locals. They are rare around here though!

Ani, I think it was beginners luck we met all our local friends with in a couple months of moving here. That and we only have a handful of friends so we actually only know 5 people who are from NC

There are just a few in my neighborhood.
Statistically that is probably the norm.
In fact my next door neighbors are BOTH locals.
He went to Providence Day, she went to Country Day, and they met at UNC-CH.
Few others I see at the pool who attended South Meck, East Meck, and Myers Park.
I would say our group of friends is 60% people who grew up in Charlotte.

Yes, one of our neighbors was born and raised here. She was telling me about shopping at Belk in the orig downtown store and I think Crests store too. Can't remember if that's the right name? I chat with her all the time.
I think I may have a couple more to, it's been a while since I've talked to them.
