Hello we will be relocating from Balto/DC area to Charlotte due to a new job near UNCC. We have 3 small children. Trying to find rental home around $1000 per mth in good area with good schools, low crime. Not sure where to start looking. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you!

Your price range will be a little tough - expect to up that to at least $1200. for better areas. I'd try Craigs List to see what comes up - look for home listed "around Mallard Creek" or even in the Highland Creek neighborhood, which has its own elementary school right in the neighborhood. Best of luck!

I live in Harrisburg and am a ten minute drive from UNCC. Some parts of Concord would only be a 20 minute drive. We don't have children in school yet but our neighbors haven't complained to us about Cabarrus schools. I agree with Loves if you want to be in Charlotte, look for those areas.

My neighbor has her relatively new (2 1/2 yrs) house for rent, in the Mallard Creek area. PM me if I can help.

I think Mint Hill would be a good area to look at. They have good schools, low crime, and nice parks. Most shady people like to avoid Mint Hill because the Mint Hill police are on top of things. The drive to UNCC from Mint Hill isn't bad because of 485. You just pass a few exits and you're there. I lived in the Mint Hill area for years and I loved it. I plan on moving back if I ever have kids.
