Hi,

I have recently moved to the Charlotte area and I am trying to find a GREAT doctor that specializes in fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue and related illnesses. I am in desperate need of someone that truly understands these illnesses and the complications that they present, as well as the ability to treat other illnesses such as thyroid and auto-immune disorders. Any help would be greatly appreciated! I have seen a number of doctors in the past who were unable to help me/didn't fully understand fibromyalgia and I am ready for someone that truly knows what they are doing!

Thanks,
Michelle Palmer

Ironic as I was just diagnosed this but had some other labs that were elevated. I go to Carolina Bone and Joint and see Dr Dayal. He has an offices in a few locations but I like his bedside manner and how detailed he is.

Emagine, How old are you? M/F? Does he take insurance? How did you find out you had it? What does he have you doing for it? Sorry for the questions!

Default Hello

I have Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and have yet to find a great dr. for it down here but I haven't really tried either. I found I did my best getting away from t e traditional drs. and doing more nontraditional healing things like acupuncture, hypnosis, etc. If you were recently diagnosed you can send me a dm and I would be more then happy to answer your questions. It can be a lot of info at once and everyone heals differently!

34 but feel a whole lot older

For tests there were a ton of labs done. While there is not one specific blood drawn test that dx Fibro he took my symptoms, medical history and the labs he did draw and do a conclusion. I have many of the text book symptoms but did not test positive for all 18 tender points. However, my CRP lab was high for inflamation which he will redrawl in a month.

I have United Health Care and he accepts it. A call to them with your information will let ya know if they take yours. I would be sure.

He is also working aside a Neuro that I am going to. This is because one of my headaches (I have three significantly different ones) effects my vision to the point letters will go missing. Ex CAT... I will see a blank where the A is along a stabbing pain. I am waiting on my MRI scans to come back. But with the other stuff he says its text book.

However be prepared he is a vampire and drawls a lot of blood.

Thanks for the responses! I will look into Dr. Dayal. I am currently seeing a rheumatologist, a neurologist, and an endocronologist and they understand the disease pretty well. However, I am hoping to find someone that specializes in fibromyalgia/chronic illnesses so that I can maybe see one or at the most 2 doctors for my problems. Any suggestions?

I don't but, I think I can help, of course I am not assuming any consequences of my advice to you regarding this issue, I am just trying to help you here.

The best Medication for fibromyalgia is Lyrica now, and my be Cymbalta.

Did you try any of these?

Default Thanks

I have tried Cymbalta and it gave me bad headaches. My neurologist just prescribed me Lyrica, but I am kind of afraid to take it. I have heard from tons of other fibro patients that the side effects are not worth the slight relief it gives you of the pain. I am planning on trying it tomorrow night, though (I wanted to wait until the weekend in case I got bad side effects). We'll see how it goes.

I greatly appreciate your advice! I still need a doc that understands all of my problems, though. Maybe I am asking too much!

I don't have any of those conditions, but I know of a place...the Hunter Hopkins center. it's The Hunter-Hopkins Center - Home they are physicians, but take a holistic approach from what I understand.
