Anyone know where a good place to fish in Charlotte? Not in a boat, don't have one.

My friends and I can't seem to find a good spot since we don't have a boat. Norman and Wiley are both over taken by private property. Most of the small ponds seem to be taken by private property. The small ponds we have found to fish are to manicured for good fishing.

We'er trying to find somewhere on the East side of Charlotte, close to Mint Hill.

If you are willing to drive just a bit, Colonel Beatty just outside of Matthews is pleasent. Also just beyond Waxhaw there is Cane Creek Park, a pretty good size lake and plenty of shoreline spots. There is also a county park right down on Lake Wiley where you can fish from the pier or the shoreline.

I enjoy going down to cane creek. I think there is a trail all the way around the lake to get to some of the coves I normally get to by boat.

I've seen people go into Idlewild Road Park with fishing rods. Never been back there so I can't tell you if there is a crick or what.

Try the Meguire Nuclear Power Station. The outlet is always a "hot" spot to fish and I head there with my kids when the fishing everywhere else is slow. I float around in the discharge and wait for something to chase the bait fish and throw into it. Easy to cast there from shore.
