I thought I would put this out because all I have seen in terms of people asking about jobs is IT and computer and banking jobs. Well how about the flip side? Retail management? Is there a lot of opportunity for this type of work? Also any clue what a manager in a chain store might make out there? Also are there any recruiters in NC who work with retail? Would love a name or two.

Thanks everyone..counting the days till we get to NC for our first visit...3 days to go!!

I am not in that industry Talia - but what I can tell you is to check out the Harris Teeter grocery chain. They have a wonderful management training program from what I have been told. Their stores are beautiful and their employees all seem "a cut above" if you know what I mean. Good luck on your upcoming trip

There is wide variety of retail managment posistions available of major chains in the area. From clothing, cars, celluar, office supply, home improvment, furniture, etc. I know staples gives out bonus to it staff if they beat projected sales goals.

I have been spoiled by Harris Teeter Grocery store chain, ever since I have been in this store. I can only assume they must treat managment well with the way they run there stores that I have been in.

The stores are always clean, staff is friendly, store is very organize. Nice selection of international items. They even have store maps to help you find items but I never need them because it so well organize. Some have cheese bar, olive bar and salad bar and few have wine taste nights.

I would say the pay in retail managment of the area is between 35k to 50k up to 75k for district managment.

Now im craving

Funny about harris teeter the called my hubby and did pursue him but the salary was no what we thought it should be. From my calculations he can't make such a low amount. Like the other topic about cost of living, from what I calculated he needs to make the same salary there as here for us to survive...this trip will certainly tell us if I am correct.

Thanks for the input
