Does anybody know when the shopping center that was supposed to contain the Bloom Grocery store is going to start constructions again near Derita Rd and Concord Mills Blvd?

Last year, there was a lot of movement: adding of lanes to Derita Rd, clearing trees, and moving dirt on the parcel. Near the end of the year, I noticed everything went dead.

Now, this week I saw a few pieces of construction equipment doing work to add the side walks along Christenbury Pkwy (currently they are sidewalk to nothing).

Anybody know?

I'm not sure to tell you the truth. I hope it opens soon. I love Bloom!

I just want a grocery store up and running closer to my home. I guess I was spoiled with HT right outside my last neighborhood.

I don't have any concrete evidence, but I wonder if Food Lion hasn't backed out of that deal or put it on hold. I also wonder if maybe Paradise Developers (the developers for all four courners at CM Blvd & Derita) has gone out of business due to the commercial real estate crisis.

I don't think they have went out of business.

I located a general contact for their company on the internet and have requested information on the status of Christenbury Corners. Hopefully The Paradise Group will reply. I also tried to make the case that a Bloom at the location moving forward would most likely be an instant success as it will be within a 5 min drive of Highland Creek, Christenbury, Mill Creek, and some old and new apartment complexes (not to mention the developments out on Poplar Tent). Already, it sucks having the Lowes Home Improvement right there.... as we have burned a lot of money and frequent trips going to it since it is so close and convenient! :-)

The following details part of the project, but not sure how old it is:
The Paradise Group - Retail, Development, Management & Leasing (look for the North Carolina section).

I just want the construction to restart. By the time it would be ready to go, we will be out of this recession.... at least of big oil and energy don't raise prices more... and banks work more to keep people in their homes and not let more foreclosures happen (and of course the home inventory decreases).

I received an email from a real estate agent today on mentioning of the Christenbury Corners development. Here is the link:

Your Charlotte Connection (http://www.yourcharlotteconnection.com/christenbury-corners-update-june-11-2009/ - broken link)

A little marketing for themselves is built in, but if what they say is true, then we have renewed progress!

Also, I am seeing a little bit of equipment moving around in the interior of the Bloom section of the as of today. Maybe the mounds of dirt and rock will start to be leveled and maybe Bloom will appear early next year or so... one can dream at least to see the dirt pit transform into something.

That does not make sense if a new Wally World is going to be next door to it.

Why does it not make sense? Not everybody will flock to Walmart, and for a good portion of people, Bloom will be the quicker store to drive and get in and out.

Bloom hits a completely different market segment than Wal-Mart. If they were going to put a Food Lion in there, it wouldn't make sense.

That said, someone with some business sense would be smart to put a Whole Foods or Fresh Market in the area.

I saw additional construction activity / movement at the site today, though I still consider it very light.

Anybody have any thoughts as to what may be happening?

Hopefully, this is tidying up the property after 6 months of dormancy to get things cranking again.
