It would seem as though a city like Charlotte would have a better hotel selection downtown. Im not sure about any boutique hotels, but as far as the majors, the selection isnt that great.
Wonder why there isnt a W or a Loews? The Westin is nice, and ive stayed there a few times, but im surprised there isnt more.

What I was getting at was most of the people that need a hotel are business people who fly in and out of Charlotte. Family and such tend to stay in the suburbs.

Until Charlotte's Downtown gets really going the need really is not there IMO. The guys already playing down there seem to have it under control.

Also, keep in mind there are only 14 cities in the US that have Loew’s hotels and only 11 cities that have W’s. Charlotte would be in some pretty exclusive company to have either one of those.

Exactly. There is not a market for it at this point. Even the Ritz Carlton being built will be a lower tier RC.

True....i bet you will see one in the next 5-10 years...

Im apt to compare NOLA with Charlotte, but, as i remind myself, NOLA is a huge tourist destination, the QC isnt...

What is a lower tier Ritz Carlton? 600 Thread Count instead of 800? One chocolate on the pillow instead of two?

Yep. Charlotte is a business commuter, expense account kind of town. Unless it starts hosting major sporting events and conventions on a regular basis I don't see boutique hotels locating in Charlotte.
