If Marvin, Weddington and Waxhaw are considered upscale towns, what would the towns around like Monroe, Indian Trail, Stallings, Wesley Chapel, be considered? low, low up, middle, mid up.
Plus any upscale towns in the York Co., Lancaster Co.?

Well, let me see if I can give you a better picture...NONE of these little towns is upscale! Waxhaw, Weddington and Marvin do, however, have some upscale NEIGHBORHOODS. But the Union County area is basically rural, not upscale. Even Monroe, which is the largest city of all the areas mentioned, has a degree of ruralness to it. Ditto the York and Lancaster county areas. |

Oh, can we not have a thread like this please? This is bound to get ugly and is frankly unnecessary!
Let's face it, lovesmountains is right: every town has upscale neighborhoods. Let's not put blanket labels on surrounding towns, ok?

You mean like when you see million dollar plus homes and down the street is the bad area of town? Charlotte much is like that to an extent from what I have noticed however I think outside the city there are neighborhoods or subdivisions that are differen't from each other.

km is probably right-- no way to parse "up scale" and less so... The history of the areas are similar though-- they were all farmland and are now changing. The biggest difference is proximity to Charlotte, and with that the pace of development.

Weddington-Marvin will be considered 'upscale' within a decade, but for now it's pretty rural.

Perhaps what is meant by "upscale" in this instance, if I can understand correctly, is meant as "expensive" in terms of homes. I think most people can agree that Marvin is a bit of an exclusive/expensive enclave, as an example. Weddington/Wesley Chap is also pricey, but you can still find plenty of deals, particularly in the older homes. I think many people may view Monroe/Indian Trail/Stallings, as still being a bit on the lower end of expensive (at this stage). Not so many of those multi-million dollar homes such as in Marvin/Weddington.
I mean, you drive around Marvin and you see homes that honestly surprise the hell outta me. Big manse's on golf course sized properties behind miles of iron gates and the horses jumping around. I consider that to be super expensive, exclusive and "upscale."
As one person wrote above, the next 10 years are going to be very telling for UC....
