Personally, I think its the extra patrolling. To me this is simple. Daryl Stephens seemed to be really soft on crime. There was a great article I posted previously about how CMPD went into a West Charlotte project where historically young people (mostly thugs) were known to come in there every New Years eve to fire guns off, get into fights, party and cruise all night causing trouble. Well this year Monroe had a large contingent of officers in there and the neighbors where so happy. I think for too long criminals in this city thought they could get away with anything, and hopefully that's changing.
I think Chief Monroe has the right idea. I have heard crimes rated as bad and not so bad. I like his idea of going for the little crimes. It makes sense to me that to treat each crime as important enough to deal with will end up getting a person off the street before the bigger crimes are allowed to happen. I like the idea of zero tolerance for crime. Keep it up Chief Monroe.
Agreed. You want to know the methodology and to at least keep doing what is working.
Yep. It could be there are extra patrols deter criminals, or it could be that they are simply catching less people or less people are reporting crime. It could be that criminals are moving to different, but adjacent, areas. Any one of a number of things could be affecting the crime rate.
