It was cruel and inhumane. They should have put the deer down and then removed it from the fence. I would report the incident.

PLease PLEASE do something about this. I could not imagine what this guy would do to my dog if he happened to get loose and someone called animal control. Recession or not I dont care whta his reasons are for keeping his job, He ABSOLUTELY needs to be fired. What part of union county was this. Call the news they will be all over it. If you dont have the time send me the photos and details and I will do it, just dont let this guy get away with nothing more than an embarressing talk from his supervisor. This is horrible!!!!

I've had nothing but positive experiences with the Union County police but have only been here about a month. This story makes me almost speechless. I also urge you to follow up on this. I'm too new to the area to know the hierarchy in North Carolina but I suggest at the very least document everything that happened and send it to the person and/or people who have the authority to punish the officer. The media and PETA can publicize it but they can't reprimand or fire him. If that's your goal (in my opinion it should be) and the county/state officials don't adequately address this then you could use the media/PETA/the public to put pressure on them. You'll have no problem rallying people to this cause but maybe try going through the proper channels first. Please keep us all updated.

I agree with BZEP. Don't let this animal die in vain. I am not a PETA activist but this is beyond cruel. You have an opportunity here to maybe help hundreds of animals that come in contact with this monster in the future. Who knows what this person has down in the past? And by the way, WE PAY THIS PERSON'S SALARY!!!

I am going to contact the county manager on Monday and give him every chance to handle this on his own.. If there are no results, I am going to get PETA and the media involved.. I will let everyone know what happens.. I may need some voices besides mine if no actions are taken..
