I searched TastyYo and didn't find it, so I'm going to post it. There's a place in Noda now - North Carolina's first - that serves froyo that is much like Pinkberry. It's called Tasty Yo. It just opened up on July 25th. They get all of their fruit from the farmer's market. It's just a little bit sweeter then Pinkberry. I have been twice already. Lol. They are also very ecofriendly...you will see what I'm talking about when you get there. Yay froyo!
It tastes more like real yogurt and has live active cultures. It's not like TCBY or Golden Spoon which is more like soft serve icecream. It's tart. And you put fruit and/or cereal on it. I recommend blackberries, strawberries and fruity pebbles. It only has 90 calories per serving (so you get a large for 240 calories). It's only really been out on the West Coast and New York so give it a shot. While you're over there check out Cabo Fish Tacos too. You can get your West Coast cuisine all in one swoop.
If anybody cares, there will be a new one opening up in Robinson Farm off of Rea Road over by Cosmos and Cheez Moes. They said that they were tentatively opening up around Thanksgiving, but I just got back and haven't been able to verify if they are up and running yet.
Freshberry, a small frozen yogurt chain that is quickly expanding, is also opening a couple locations in Charlotte and so is Yoforia, which is another small frozen yogurt chain from Atlanta.
I went there in September and really liked it. They are hard to find but yes, very eco-friendly. The yogurt is not the type of frozen yogurt that tastes like ice cream: it is one flavor and has a tangy taste. My kids loved it.
OK, so I was curious about this stuff. I made my way up to NoDa and it was AWESOME! I've only been home about 2 hours, and I'm already trying to figure out how soon I can get back there. Delicious, super-tasty, hard to say enough. It's tangy and a little sweet, plus there are a billion toppings. The location down by CheeseMo's and Cosmos Cafe is set to possibly open this weekend, according to the guy I talked to today. It's right on Davidson, just before you get to 36th St. Street parking w/o meters, too. They don't open until 1pm, though, just FYI. Enjoy!!
