wachovia contracting - need to leave full time position to join (buy, contractors)

Guys,

I am basically from NC, having lived around charlotte for a good 3+ years. My contract ended about 5 months back, could not find one in this area and recently got a full time position and moved to GA.

Now I am currently being interviewed for a contracting position with wachovia.

Getting back to where I belong is really tempting, but getting back to contracting is a bit scary, especially leaving a newly joined full time position.

Need advice from any who are in wachovia contracting or contracting in general around charlotte area... how stable is contracting around this area.. Would you advice leaving a full time position....in this recession?

If you have a full time job, I would keep it. Companies hire contract labor specifically for short term purposes. See my comment in the other Wachovia thread.

Wachovia is now Wells. In IT, the teams I am familiar with are turning long term contractors. If you aren't a FT Wachovia, I would stay put

I would NEVER leave a full-time position for a contract, especially in the banking industry. Be thankful you have that job and stick with it until times get better.

The trend is try n' buy and I don't see that changing any time soon... It works very well as an employer. They get to test drive people and only keep the creme de la creme. More often then not, they're probably not even doing much of the keeping part. Why buy the cow?

Thank you guys for all your input. I now have a fair idea of the current market situation especially in charlotte. Hopefully this will help me in making the correct decision.
