We went to 131 Main on Monday and were pleased to find out that they are doing half-price bottles of wine on Mondays! They just updated their wine list and I must say...it is excellent!

A bottle of Cakebread Chard for $37.50? Justin Cab for $22.50? You can't beat that.

Our server was Shawn (female) and she was awesome. I highly recommend the roasted vegetable bruschetta and their Awesome Roast Beef Sandwich(it truly IS awesome).

We will be going back next Monday!

Deals are restricted to bottles under $100.

I think Village Bistro can beat it, on Tuesdays that is.

With purchase of entree, Village Bistro allows you to bring in your own wine and they even waive the corkage fee!

Well, the prices at 131 Main for a lot of the wines were below retail, even at Total Wine, after the 50% discount. So that's cheaper than bringing your own.

Free Corkage is good tho, I'll check them out too!

That's still not cheaper than bringing my own, not even close. But if you like 131 Main, it's a decent way to get you in there. I've never been overly impressed with their food (except the roast beef).....but it's ten times better than Encore. Food and service was horrible. In fact, I've heard nothing but negative feedback.

FWIW, I've had nothing but good meals @ Village Bistro.

Well if it's something that isn't on their wine list, I guess it wouldn't be cheaper. LOL!

Really? I went there because of all the good reviews I've read about it on here. Oh well, it was good.

Encore sucks, I agree.

Where is Village Bistro? I'm gonna google it now so you prolly don't have to tell me.

EDIT: Have you had the chicken fried lobster? That sounds interesting. I want to go there now. LOL

The bistro is in Ballantyne Village, across from Villa Antonio. Basically Ballantyne Commons and Johnston Rd....look for the big lit up spaceship looking tower. (not sure what you call it)

Google Maps

Chicken Fried Lobster does sound interesting, though I don't even remember seeing it on the menu, so do tell how it turns out!

And of course, if you didn't already know, Mix at Six is still going on Wednesdays. (Ballantyne's version of Alive After Five uptown.)....live music etc etc

Where do you get your wine that's less than retail?

Total Wine is awesome. But, there are some very affordable and widely-liked wines at Trader Joes, besides just the famous Two Buck Chuck that I'm sure you're aware of. You guys have also sparked my interest because I don't think some of our favorites and what are listed as "South Charlotte Favorites" are also available at Total Wine, but I'll check and report back!
