No VA hospital in Charlotte (Durham, Fayetteville: university, health, area)

I am curious as to why doesn't Charlotte have a VA hospital? Durham,

Asheville, Fayetteville and even Salisbury has one, but not here. They have a

clinic, but It seems that It would make more sense to have a an actual hospital

here in Charlotte, considering that this area is much more populated than

Salisbury.

Good question. Just before November 11 I wanted to visit a VA hospital and did a search and learned there was none in Charlotte.

In addition to the hospital in Salisbury, there is a VA Community Based Outpatient Clinic in Charlotte. I believe it opened a year or two ago. I have traveled to the Salisbury hospital but never to the clinic in Charlotte. I have, however, heard good things about the facility.

They have an array of services including but not limited to: general or primary care, mental health, xray clinic, endoscopy, etc.
