Hi everyone!
Im new to this site so bear with me here. Ive decided to move from FL and am starting the process of researching cities. Any opinions on how Charlotte might be for a single RN in her mid 30's. Im wondering about weather, entertainment/recreation, job opportunities (obviously healthcare), social life, ect... Any info is appreciated. Thanks!!
Well, if you do a search and read on the forum for a while, I think most of your general questions will be addressed. There is a search feature at the top of the right hand column on the Charlotte forum's front page.
The main hospitals to apply to would be Presby (Novant) and Carolinas Medical Center (CHS).
You didn't say what part of Florida you live in but I think the cost of living is overall about the same. Of course, Florida doesn't have state income tax, so that would be a difference.
It depends on what part of FL you are living in as to how different the weather will be. We do get the occasional snowfall here but usually nothing remarkable. Every few years, we get an ice storm in this region.
There are many opportunities for outdoor entertainment with the mountains 2 hours or so away. If you are near the water now, then that may be something you would miss a lot as it will be around 3.5 hours to get to the coast from Charlotte (depending on where you would live).
As far as night life - again - depends on what you are looking for. I don't think Charlotte is the best place in the USA to meet other young singles, but it certainly isn't the worst. You would meet folks thru/ work as well as your neighbors . . . and there are many groups you can join which would put you in touch w/ other singles.
