Can anybody in the health insurance industry give me a rough idea of how much our company with 38 employees participating in the plan have to pay for group health insurance per employee, with a $1,000 deductible?

Your question is unclear . . . are you the owner of the company and trying to estimate benefits cost?

I am not the owner but a member of the executive staff. I am trying to estimate costs. Thanks.

Ok, 38 people are on the plan, $1000 deductible, 80/20 coverage - those are the main features needed in the plan

IT will be more than you think. Have been out of the business for several years, thank God, so I will not estimate, but watch out.

I don't think the $1,000 deductible will get you as much as you think, either.

Oh, and I don't remember the specific rules, but after you get a quote, you have to provide demographic data, and generally, there will be some reason to increase the rate quoted after that data is reviewed, though there is some limit.

Good Luck. though.

We'll a rough estimate is what I need. I went on BCBS of NC website and did a quote for an individual age 60, a spouse age 60, and one child age 21 and got about $1,350 a month. But everything else being equal that should be a "worst" case b/c age 60 for both spouses is about as old as you can get, and age drives up the cost. Obviously, with a group of 38, the ages would on average be less than 60.

If your average age is > 41 or so, I would expect pretty near $1K per month probably a bit more, family. If much less than 41, probably $850 or so for family. But, if anyone has any issues, expect to pay a lot more. Maybe some currrent guys can chime in, I am answering from about 4 years out.

Ok, that is now getting to some sort of idea, and I assume that means the total cost per month, family (contributory and non-contributory pieces).
