If you think that Charlotte is a small city, you haven't been downtown on a weekend night. Went to a play last night and it was packed everywhere, restaurants, playhouses, bars, and sidewalks. It is amazing that people say that Charlotte isn't diverse. Have these people even been to Charlotte. There was an even distribution of people from all continents walking around. And to think that the new Music Factory was just a mile away too. Nobody in their right mind could say that Charlotte isn't jumping after dark.

I agree. We go to the Epicentre and around uptown on weekends. The mez, bars and lounges are all packed and loud/awesome music.

We hit Epicenter July 1st I believe. I was amazed at the diverse crowd. Our favorite was Mez, black, white, latin, straight, gay and everything in between. The age range was diverse as well. We are headed back the 24th for a benefit concert. Can't wait!

This topic makes no sense. Even Bugtussle, NC is "jumping after dark" around the local Hardees.

The murder rate around Bugtussle's really, really high. Not a very safe place to be jumping after dark.

I had dinner at the EpiCentre on a Friday night a couple of weeks ago and was very surprised to see how lively it was very early in the evening. And yes, the crowds were very diverse. I'd always been concerned that place would turn into "frat boy" central, but the times I've been to various places there it wasn't like that at all.

That has always been my experience as well. Charlotte isn't NYC but there is a lot going on uptown. I'm honestly confused when I see people say things on contrary. Especially when people say that this is only a family (with kids) town not entertaining enough for childless singles and couples. Sure there are many family oriented places and activities here but I see things that I think many "family" people miss. For example the EpiCenter at 2AM on a Friday night.
