I am leaving to Australia in several days. but meanwhile I am required to sign some documents under a witness of a 18+ Australian, which means he/she needs to sign this document also as a witness. I am having trouble to find any Australian here. anybody can recommend where I can find an Australian citizen in Charlotte?

I would imagine these days it would be hard to get someone to sign something for somebody they don't know. I would try to call the Australian Embassy in Atlanta and see what you can do instead.

That's what I thought. I already called the Embassy in Atlanta and they could not tell me anybody could help in Charlotte. unless I make an appointment with Embassy and drive down to Embassy to get it done. but it looks time is too tight to do that.

There is an Australian Football Club in Raleigh - google "NC Tigers". They have some Australians playing for them including their coach Jason. If you can't get to Raleigh, there is a good chance they have some Aussie friends in Charlotte. I am an Australian citizen but I live in Raleigh and I am in NY for the next week...

There are many Australians in Charlotte but my point is that to ask somebody to sign a form or witness a form is a big responsibility. I know that my Irish passport requires me to get people from certain professions to sign as someone who knows me personally. Once I got it signed the Irish Embassy called that person to check to see if they were genuine. Just be careful what you sign as these days you are basically held responsible for that person.

Yeah, it is difficult. basically this witness will sign to prove all my passport copy, driver license copy, marriage certification copy etc are true copies. if they ask for a notary, it will be fine, but they require an Australian citizen's witness.

Q - I know you don't make the rules, but how exactly would an Australian citizen know if they were true copies (versus good forgeries)?

Good luck.

I am confused. Again, what documents need to be signed. Is this person coming over on a working visa or permanently or what? I have helped some British friends come over and I am not clear on what is needed. Is it required that there be documentation proving that he has employment? I have helped people before, but I don't quite know what you are asking for.
