Hi, I'm new to the Charlotte area. I'm looking for absolutely reliable high speed internet service. I've tried time warner cable and have had 5 repair men out but still don't have reliable high speed. I'm also looking for a good reliable phone which could be wireless (preferable) or land-line. We are a couple who will probably not watch television or use more than 500 minutes a month on a phone. Can someone recommend the best option for us for the internet and phone package?
Thanks,
Scott

Hands down AT&T U-Verse if available in your area.
Crystal clear TVoIP (HDTV over IP), whole house DVR, up to 18Mbps down data, 1.5 Mbps up.

I'll never, ever go back to Time Warner Cable...EVER

As far as I know you only have 3 choices in this area:

1. TWC, which is available everywhere
2. Windstream DSL, I belive available everywhere but IMO fast DSL is slower than a slow cable connection
3. AT&T U-Verse, which is available in limited areas

I have been happy with Windstream the 3 weeks that I have been using it. I liked that the upload potential is higher than with TWC. Sadly, I dont have access to U-verse where I like in Concord.

I love my AT&T. I ordered it online and it was easy to install myself. I have never had any issues.

Check out CLEAR from Clearwire. Wirelesee home internet. 6-10MB down and 1MB up for $45/mo. It's a brand new 4G WiMAX service.

I also recommend CLEAR service as well. I use it now and I only pay $30 a month and it's actually just as fast, if not faster, than Road Runner. Plus you can take the modem with you if you travel throughout North Carolina or Atlanta area! www.clear.com

your internet connection can be lost when you computer goes on standby, or hibernation, and the network card stays inactive, or even your router or modem can become dormant. number of repairmen is not good representation of the reliability of the data connection coming into your home.

Fastest residential internet in the area seems to be the 20M/2M service offered by MI-Connection. Unfortunately if you don't live in Cornelius, Davidson or Mooresville, you can't get it as these are the only areas with the wiring for it.
