Would appreciate some info from any retired NYC employees that relocated to the Charlotte area. What health insurance did you retain afte retirement?
Did you have difficulty finding doctors? Thanks!!

I do not imagine any one would have a problem finding a doctor here. I'd call some hospitals and ask.

Retired with GHI....I haven't confirmed it, but DH was told (at a meeting in Charlotte) that GHI is going public, more doctors will be added to their participation list & they will be working with Carolinas Medical center here. I hope so! Not too many doctors accept GHI here.

That is good to know (about GHI going public). Can anyone tell me about how your pension is taxed by the state of NC?

you get up to a 4,000 exemption

Only pension exempted completely in N.C. is military retirement.
