Hey folks, have to tell you that I just spent a week in Phoenix visiting a friend. I spent most of the week at this gym called "Life Time Fitness (google it to see their web site) This place was unbelievable. 3 of the biggest pools I have ever seen, Huge jacuzzi's, sauna's, Steam rooms, Rock gym, Ect. and its open 24/7. I am no muscle head but this place was better then anything I have ever seen. The only one in NC is in Cary but was wondering if there was anything comparable in the Charlotte area that I could check out. Thanx everyone!

Default Lifetime Fitness

I agree with you!!! I used to live in Phoenix and I was a member of Lifetime Fitness and it is awesome. I really wish we had one here in Charlotte. After working out there I can't find anything here that compares. They have a huge facility and excellent group exercise classes ranging from 5am to 8pm, not to mention the spa and cafe, it has it all.

There is one in Charlotte. They are opening them all over the place in the next two years.

What are the good gyms in Charlotte, I don't think 24 hour fitness centers has hit that area yet, wonder if they are planning on moving into North Carolina. or that LA Fitness, that one is not one of my favorite gyms though.

Peak Fitness locations are open 24 hours. They were Gold's Gym and Peak bought all of them about 2 years or so ago. Average membership is around $25-35 a month. TONS of equiptment.

YMCA's are very popular in the Charlotte area. The one's I've been to have been excellent. Seems like the private gyms in the area keep changing hands and / or closing doors.

They have "express" versions now that have everything you need. If you are under the age of 18 you are not permitted.

I love it and won't go back to a regular gym.
